Jane Hayes Rader graduated from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1954 and joined the Board of Trustees in 1973. As a student, she was active in university proceedings, student government, Pi Beta Phi, and the Star Course, and volunteered with the “Foster Daughter” program. As an alum, she served on the UI Foundation, Alumni Association, and Athletic Association, advocating for female students. In 1986, she was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Service Award at UI.
